3 6 5 Diary

I am new to the blogger world. So here's to trying new things and branching out in whatever way you see fit. To start, I'm Emma. Currently a senior in college. Free spirit. Yogi. Friend. Lover. Feminist. Passionate. All with a little crazy. That's a pretty well-rounded summary.

The reason for starting this blog? A dear friend of mine told me about this new thing she heard about called a "365 Diary". What does this entail? You take a photograph every day for a year. Post it on your blog, website, online journal, or whichever world wide web medium you prefer. Along with each photo comes a small little description about what the photo is, its significance, purpose, meaning, anything that comes to mind. When I heard about this I immediately loved it. My life is, and has been, going through a lot of transitions in the last few months. And I couldn't think of a better way to document and express one of the most pivotal years in my twenties. It's my last year of college and after that I'll be set free to take the world on by storm. How I will do this, I have no idea. But what better what to get it all onto one page than to capture it day by day with a photo.

So begins my own 365 Diary. It's titled "fall to fall". It will begin this fall and continue on to the next. Fall is a time when nature is transforming and finding its way through the upcoming challenges of winter that eventually end with the beauty of spring followed by the warmth of summer. Only to repeat the cycle, but not before the leaves slowly and effortlessly change in the most stunning way possible. I would like to think that this upcoming year of my life would follow this pattern. I can only hope. And I'm looking at the glass half full. From one fall to another, it will all be here. Capturing life's moments day by day, photo by photo.

Let's hop on the good foot and do that bad thing...

Photo #1
I just returned from a trip to St. Augustine, Florida this morning. While I was there, I was brought to one of the most incredible little stores I have ever been to. Simple Gestures is the most eclectic mix of local artists in the area. I spent a good two hours there just walking around and taking every piece of original craft in. In the back corner of the store, I came across a display of simple one page stories by the artist Brian Andreas. There was an entire box of his pieces that were each different from one another. After rifeling through as many as I could, I settled on this one. The quote, or story titled "Connection", just really stuck out to me and I think it's rather fitting for the start of this blog and the meaning behind it.

The quote reads:
there came a moment
in the middle of the song
when she suddently
felt every heartbeat
in the room
& after that
she never forgot
she was part
of something much
bigger
