First off, Happy Halloween!! This has been the longest weekend ever and this holiday has been celebrated to the last drop. Oy vey. Just to top it off, tickets for Cortaca went on sale this afternoon. This is the biggest event to hit Ithaca College. The whole scene of tailgating and going to football games every weekend is not something us Bombers typically do. But Cortaca, you better believe we all of sudden become the biggest football fans you've ever seen. This sporting event is between us and SUNY Cortland. A rivalry that has been in full force for over 50 years. People come out of the woodwork for this game. This year it's over at Cortland so there are only a select number of tickets available. We lucked out and got all the tickets we needed but it was a legit struggle. People were camped out in line for these bad boys. Aggressive tactics and line cutting skills were part of the main event. When it comes to the biggest little game in America, you don't mess around. Two weeks from now, things are about to get wild. Can't wait for those photos.
Let's go Bombers.

Oh yes. Halloween is still in full swing. And I have a feeling tonight is going to be the icing on the top of this big cake known as ridiculousness. Hence this photo. Which I just received as a text message. Little heads up, if I get a photo via text email or whatever other means of delivery, it has all the ability to be posted as one of my photos. I wonder what a year of those fun things could bring...? But this particular one are some of my favorite hometown boys I've know since we were about 15. Who can resist some good old Sesame Street characters along side a taco and vampire? Classic.
Halloween officially makes it's entrance when the clock strikes midnight. Sppooooookyyy. But let's be goul, get out there and maybe get freaky!!

Here we are again. Round two of the Halloween festivities and celebrations. My darling and ever so lovely roommates are in full character. Operation. Biker babe. Bad ass ballerina. Snapping photos in our kitchen in between drinkage is a regular weekend occurrence for us. I'm so lucky to live with the most fun creative beautiful people I've met in college. Let the good time roll ladies!

Extracurricular activities are a fun way to boost your resume and expand your social skills. And fortunately enough Ithaca College has quite the variety to choose from. Since freshman year I've been involved with ICTV on the weekly production of Entertainment 16. Oh ps, I'm a television production major if my one and only extracurricular for all of college didn't give it away. So for the past four years I've been an on-air correspondent for the show. We cover all things entertainment. Tv, movies, music, fashion, gossip and anything else you can think of that is news worthy. It's been a blast. Wednesday nights in Studio A are full of crazy shenanigans and I've made some of the best friends doing to show. And watch out because we are the dream team. Our names will be on the credits of all the next hit shows in the media industry within the next few years.
This photo is our ad poster for this semester's season. Me and my freshman sidekick are hosting and the rest of our bomb ass cast covers specific topics. The slogan is what we sign off with every night and it has now become our official tag line. Pretty darn fabulous.

Also I want to take a moment to send lots of love and remembrance to one of the most amazing girls I had the pleasure of doing E16 with for three years. For whatever reason life works in unexpected ways and she was taken from this earth at the age of 22 with her whole life ahead. But her spirit was and will always be like no one I have ever met before. We remember her and keep her with us. I know where you are doll, there are plenty of cupcakes and water there for you. Love you and miss you B.

Warm With A Chance...

Anyone who knows upstate/central NY knows that the weather is pretty much unbearable from November until like April. Don't get me wrong, Ithaca is gorges but when the cold weather rolls in there is a tendency to hate your life. The past few weeks have been progressively getting colder and more grey. A telltale sign that winter is peeking it's big frosty head out from behind the door. But today...oh la la! It was legitimately gorges. Sunny skies. No clouds. And 70 degrees. Every person in Ithaca was out and about soaking up this unheard of weather for the end of October.
Let's enjoy it now because it would be no surprise if it snowed in three days.

Unfortunately my extended weekend home came to a halt this morning when my alarm blared at 6:15 am. I was an incredibly responsible student and left bright and early, before the sun mind you, so I would be back on campus for my first class of the day. One of the hardest things for me to leave are my dogs. Check the previous post for my love and obsession. It may sound crazy but they know, especially my pup Jade, when I'm leaving. They get these really sad puppy eyes that I swear have brought me to tears when I give them a good squeeze goodbye. Of course, this morning was no different. Lola and Jade have had quite the love hate relationship. Lola was a tad pissed when I brought Jade home and she was no longer the only child. But very recently they have started snuggling together on the chaise lounge that Jade had originally claimed. When I came into the living room this dark morning I found them there. All sleepy and sad eyed as the watched me pack up my stuff to leave. It was too precious not to capture. Those faces just melt your heart.

What better to end my last night at home then with the two greatest lifelong friends of mine. Movies and then to the diner is our go to for a lazy Sunday night. And it's the simple pleasure in between. Like 25 cent gum balls that come from the big machine with a swirly slide to the bottom. We were so excited for this pick me up. Until we tried to chew the gum and it was hard as rock. Total disappointment. But like everything else the three of us have been through we laugh about it. And we will be doing this until there is no time left to it. Forever young.

Apples To Apples
October 23rd, 2010
Photo #7
After absolutely enjoying myself and going out every night I've been home, I got the chance to lay low and partake in some quality time with some of the greatest people. It's funny when you meet people at a random time in your life, typically when you aren't expecting it. Then somehow a friendship forms that becomes one of the most significant ones you can think of. The three individuals I had the pleasure spending tonight with are those kinds of friendships. We have all lived and grown up in the same town but never really came together and formed a substantial bond. But this summer I was lucky enough to spontaneously reconnect and now I have new people in my life that are just too great for words.
During our rather intense game of Apples To Apples, complete with homemade apple crisp, we snapped a quick little photo for the one friend of ours who is just too far away to enjoy the time with us. Couldn't have asked for a better reunion, felt like there was still a little warmth of summer in the air.

Puppy Love

My dog is the love of my life. Jade. I also call her Moose. She is the best creature in the entire world. For every thing in my life over the past three years she has been there unconditionally. When people talk about their love for an animal that comes with a bond and connection was something I never understood until my little pooch came along. And this is another reason it's so great to come home. The lease on my house at school doesn't allow Jade so my parents keep her and spoil her. As you can see in this photo. Jade is a mush and loves nothing more than to cuddle with whoever will let her squeeze on in. Nothing like this can compare.

The Road Home

I haven't been back to my hometown in two months. I've gone much longer than this being away from home but for some reason today I was really anxious to get back here. Now that it's fall and summer is over is like walking into a whole new scene. But even though a lot has changed in the short two months that I've been away, something about home always allows you to feel calm and stable.
The drive from school is something I've done dozens of times. It's beautiful and it's scenic. This is one of my favorites parts. Over the reservoir and into the mountains. It's a full moon tonight as well. Maybe someone knew I was coming.
It will be nice to be here for the next few days.

Sushi Staple
October 20th, 2010
Photo #4
This was just way too groovy not to post this. I was in class a few hours ago and needed a stapler for a silly assignment. One of my classmates reached in her backpack and pulled out this...
Yupp. That is a stapler in the shape of a piece of sushi. Looks like tuna sashimi to be exact. As an avid sushi eater, I died. And of course this precious little gem was found at Urban Outfitters. A funky hippsters paradise. I told you I love food.
Now I'm really craving some sushi...

Frolicing On A Tuesday
October 19th, 2010
Photo #3
Tuesdays tend to be pretty lame days during the week. A friend once told me that, and until then I never actually thought that. But really, Tuesdays do sucks a bit. I mean Monday is like ok the week is off and running. Wednesday is like yesss midweek. Thursday everyone is thirsty and Friday is the next day. But Tuesday. Agh. It's just there. So what better way to spice up a Tuesday evening with trying a new place for some food and checking out a new movie. Oh just a heads up... I. Love. Food. Especially trying new and interesting places. It's a guarantee there will be plenty of photos of different foods I'm eating or trying. Example A....
This is a cornbread waffle with vegetarian chili. Yumm. There is a new place here called Waffle Frolic. They do all kinds of waffles with sweet and savory toppings and creations. Totally a new and interesting twist on contemporary dining. I give it four stars overall.

Friend In The Commons
October 18th, 2010
Photo #2
This evening I walked down to the yoga studio where I practice. In order to arrive at my destination I walk through the Commons. The Ithaca Commons that is. Now, for those who don't know, Ithaca is quite the groovy little city located in the middle of nowhere in western NY. The people, the food, the sustainability, everything makes Ithaca a wonderfully funky place to live. Artists and musicians, and of course the occasional homeless person, frequent the Commons. Throughout the short walk from my front porch to the studio I pass many different pieces of art and even more different people. So upon entering the Commons this slightly brisk fall evening I looked up to come face to face, literally, with this person.
This annonymous art structure was just too cool not to capture in a photo. And even more so, clearly I made a new friend.

3 6 5 Diary
I am new to the blogger world. So here's to trying new things and branching out in whatever way you see fit. To start, I'm Emma. Currently a senior in college. Free spirit. Yogi. Friend. Lover. Feminist. Passionate. All with a little crazy. That's a pretty well-rounded summary.
The reason for starting this blog? A dear friend of mine told me about this new thing she heard about called a "365 Diary". What does this entail? You take a photograph every day for a year. Post it on your blog, website, online journal, or whichever world wide web medium you prefer. Along with each photo comes a small little description about what the photo is, its significance, purpose, meaning, anything that comes to mind. When I heard about this I immediately loved it. My life is, and has been, going through a lot of transitions in the last few months. And I couldn't think of a better way to document and express one of the most pivotal years in my twenties. It's my last year of college and after that I'll be set free to take the world on by storm. How I will do this, I have no idea. But what better what to get it all onto one page than to capture it day by day with a photo.
So begins my own 365 Diary. It's titled "fall to fall". It will begin this fall and continue on to the next. Fall is a time when nature is transforming and finding its way through the upcoming challenges of winter that eventually end with the beauty of spring followed by the warmth of summer. Only to repeat the cycle, but not before the leaves slowly and effortlessly change in the most stunning way possible. I would like to think that this upcoming year of my life would follow this pattern. I can only hope. And I'm looking at the glass half full. From one fall to another, it will all be here. Capturing life's moments day by day, photo by photo.
Let's hop on the good foot and do that bad thing...

I just returned from a trip to St. Augustine, Florida this morning. While I was there, I was brought to one of the most incredible little stores I have ever been to. Simple Gestures is the most eclectic mix of local artists in the area. I spent a good two hours there just walking around and taking every piece of original craft in. In the back corner of the store, I came across a display of simple one page stories by the artist Brian Andreas. There was an entire box of his pieces that were each different from one another. After rifeling through as many as I could, I settled on this one. The quote, or story titled "Connection", just really stuck out to me and I think it's rather fitting for the start of this blog and the meaning behind it.
The quote reads:
there came a moment
in the middle of the song
when she suddently
felt every heartbeat
in the room
& after that
she never forgot
she was part
of something much
bigger
