Redhead Love

February 28th, 2011
Photo #135
I've written in a few previous posts about my wonderful decision of becoming a redhead and how oh so fabulous it has been. I'm naturally blonde and used to be a serious platinum for quite some time. But since the end of summer I have been a proud Ginger. I swear I was meant to be one and I desperately need to have redheaded children, if I do happen to ever become a mother. And today I received this photo via text message from one of my southern dolls. It's a sign that reads "Redheads Drink 1/2 Price Rolling Rocks". Ha! Such a great little pick me up to make me smile on this not so great Monday. But tomorrow is a new day, and a new month for that matter, and redheads might possibly have more fun.

Sunday Funday

February 27th, 2011
Photo #134
Well by now we all know that my pup Jade pretty much makes the blog every day that I'm home. She is just to darn cute not to capture on film. And just a few moments was no different. Jade and I have been snuggled up most of this Sunday, although I did get a nice long run in outside this afternoon which was wonderful. This evening though we got all cozy on the couch to watch The Academy Awards which has been wonderful. But when it comes to sharing the couch, and my bed for that matter, Miss Jade takes up so much darn room. I usually have no more than a corner to squeeze into. And now as we lay here on the couch, and as you can see in the photo, she is literally laying on top of me right underneath my face. I no longer need a blanket. But I can't say I hate it. I could snuggle any day any way with this one.

Trombone Shorty

February 26th, 2011
Photo #133
My last night in the city we are going out with a bang, New Orleans jazz style. My parents came in to meet us for my stepdad's favorite band Trombone Shorty. The place is absolutely rocking and I have been dying to get my groove on all weekend. This is just too perfect for a funky and fun Saturday night in NYC.

Concrete Jungle

Photo #132
New York City how I love thee. Today has been a slight whirlwind with my first real experience of being a big girl and interviewing for prospective jobs and such. It's all been absolutely exhilarating and as much as I love college and would hate for it to end, I think I might be ready for the next chapter...whatever that brings.

Afternoon Delight

February 24th, 2011
Photo #131
I finally made it into NYC a few hours ago to be with my southern belles. But before I took the trip down here, I got to snuggle with my best girl for the afternoon. Coming home to my pup giving me nothing but love will never get old. What a lovely afternoon before a big exciting weekend. Positive thoughts!! And as always, I know I've got the unconditional love from my Jade.

Video Chat Southern Style

February 23rd, 2011
Photo #130
First of all, I have been sick as dog on my death bed all day long. Ugh it's been a terrible hump day. Last night I was feeling a little sinus and throat pain start to come on but I thought it could be avoided with a ton of green tea and water. False thinking on my part. I woke up this morning to some serious congestion. I thought I could be a trooper and power through but after an hour of doing my morning routine completely half-assed, I passed out in bed and haven't emerged since. Plus, I'm a total control freak and can't let myself relax when I have a million things to do so I was worried all day about missing work and class when really I should be focused on getting better. Needless to say, I was a worried waste all day. But one thing that did bring up my spirits was the discovery of today's photo. I was going through some old files on my Mac to put together some examples from my reel when I found this picture in my "Nashville" folder. I'm pretty sure this was taken post-Nashville when we had all moved back home after the incredible summer. iChat and Skype are always our preferred means to virtually stay in touch and this little session was obviously hilarious, as it always it. Not to mention we were still the full on blondtourage and insanely tan from beaching it all summer long, before I made the great decision of becoming a redhead and fulfilling my inner alter ego. But that, is besides the point. This picture is priceless. Who knows that the hell sparked us to make such ridiculous faces, but with my Southern family it never matters because we are always laughing. They make me genuinely happy and I miss them way too much each day. Good news though, I get to see one of the five this weekend in NYC for a little bit of fun to help ease me through my first semi-formal job interview. Yup, that's right. This college senior has officially started the journey to post-grad career life. Oyy. Let's hope I kick this sickness in time for my meeting Friday morning!

Namaste All Day

February 22nd, 2011
Photo #129
Yoga has become a pretty large and daily part of my life over the past three years. I don't get to practice in a studio filled with group energy as much as I'd like to, and my goal of becoming a certified instructor is a little ways off in the distance due to the cash flow shortage, but I do some sort of yoga every day. Whether it's meditative breathing to relax and recenter or some sun salutations and a vinyasa flow practice on my own, I always make it a point to open my heart center and energize my body every day. I got a little bored during one of my classes today and zoned out on to a pin I have attached on my backpack. It's the Namaste symbol and it's a nice little piece of peace I like to have on my back. And I wanted to see how it would look somewhere else, plus my boredom was really kicking in. I redrew the Namaste on the corner of my wrist with a sharpie just to get a feel for a tattoo I could see every day. Hey I told you I was bored. But at least it's a positive symbol that I see every day even when I'm not practicing. Still not too sure, as good of a tracing that it is, that I would want it to be there permanently. I like my tattoos where they are and where they are hidden.

Warmth

February 21st, 2011
Photo #128
Ugh today was horrendous. Not only was it Monday, the start to a new week, but I had to trek all the way to Ithaca early this morning to make it back in time for week. I know, I am so responsible. But seriously, I am. I couldn't just call out of work because I wanted to be home for an extra night. The only thing is, the weather of course blew for time efficient traveling so it took me way longer that usual to get up here. On top of that, I just couldn't sleep last night. My mind has been in all sorts lately. Impending graduation. Upcoming career choice. What it is I actually want anymore. Oy, it's getting to be a bit much. And this weather just doesn't help the entire thing. I just want it to be warm. The day other was such a tease. It was 60 degrees and gorgeous. I got to go running outside! That is my all time favorite thing. But of course, the next day it snowed and we are right back to the square one of winter. Why can't I just have some warmth in my life?! Which is why I chose today's photo, and because I received it via FB post this afternoon and just had to. This picture is from right after we graduated high school, at the fresh age of 18, in Cancun Mexico on a snorkeling excursion. Such a classic photo moment when you are doing tropical touristy activities. I would kill to get back to this moment. Before semi-real life (college) started and actual real life (post college) was right around the corner. Not a care in the world in this picture. And of course, we were warm, tan, and floating along in the ocean.

Represent

February 20th, 2011
Photo #127
First I have to say that I had an amazing weekend at the Zoo and staying in the HaHa house. Running away for a few days was just what I needed. And seeing my amazing friends and getting to spend every last minute with them was way too wonderful for words. I got to just truly enjoy myself and have genuine fun without a care in the world. Plus I even made it back home and got all of my schoolwork done this evening. Now I just have to keep positive thoughts about the weather for my travels back to Ithaca, and reality, tomorrow morning. But about today's photo, I found this lighter in the living room of the HaHa house and just had to get a photo of it. The girls who live there are very seasoned world travelers and the fact that they had this little treasure to remind them of Switzerland, my family's homeland and place of my second citizenship, was just so awesome to see. I love seeing and finding the little funky and creative knick knacks in people's home. I'm the person who can never get rid of anything. I have boxes of photos, letters, cards, flowers, anything and everything. Plus I have all sorts of little treasures around my room to remind of the places I've been to and seen. And I guess this blog is my virtual way of collecting treasures over this next year. It's just nice to see people who do the same thing and enjoy the little things in life, because in the end they are what get us through.

Love Life

February 19th, 2011
Photo #126
My little weekend vaca to UMass has been so very wonderful. Two of my amazing best friends from home are here and we just mesh so well and have the best times. We danced all night long. Laughed til we cried. And then shopped and ate today. These are all things we have done since we were 12. Today's photo is a photo of another photo. This one was posted on a tack board at my friends house and this picture is just such a great memory. This moment was captured the summer after our freshman year of college and is one of the few where all of us are in the same picture. Today it's harder for all of us to even keep in touch let alone be in a picture together, but the few and true are still able to be so incredibly close. This weekend has totally brought me back down to earth and made me remember how lucky I am and how much I love life.

Good Morning

February 18th, 2011
Photo #125
I drove home last night to break up trip my to UMass to visit my two best friends this weekend. It was so great to come home to fresh food and family. I sat around the table with my brother and parents while the pups hung out underneath us. Pretty standard for us and my pretty puppies. This morning, after a seriously cozy night's sleep in my big bed, I rolled over and woke up to this. How adorable? My little girl Jade was all curled up and sleepy right next to me. Talk about the best snuggle partner ever. Whenever I'm home I'm guaranteed to have this pooch right by my side. Even as I type this she is sitting right next to all snuggled up on the couch. If you can't tell, I'm such a proud Mamma. But now it's time to hit the road to The Zoo to see my beautiful friends and enjoy a weekend of fun fun fun! I know my girl Jade will be right here waiting for my return on Sunday though!

Night Fingers

February 17th, 2011
Photo #124
Every Tuesday and Thursday I have the absolute pleasure of eating lunch on campus with my always fabulous group of friends. The boys are always the most entertaining. The things they talk about, with no shame mind you, are hilarious. Like today's discussion about girls and boobs. Don't freak out. Your reading the blog of a feminist. None of it was offensive and we ladies chimed in our personal opinions. Clearly we have experience with boobs. And that is the greatest part about our group of friends. We can all talk, laugh, and enjoy any kind of subject in any kind of setting. As well as throwing in our logical and intellectual thoughts along the way. I mean come on, of course I slipped in some of my feminist view point in there. But today's photo is honor or my all time, one and only, favorite Hancock resident. The boys seem to enjoy nick naming him Night Fingers. To be honest I'm not sure I want to know the true explanation of why he obtained that name. But he's a total peach. And not to mention he can kill it on those ones and twos. This little nugget was curious about my blog so I gave him the privilege of being today's photo. I hope he's waving those night fingers all up in the air.

Ginger Spice

February 16th, 2011
Photo #123
This semester completely kicked it into high gear this week. Work is accumulating and bringing on some unneeded stress. But one thing it has also brought along is the weekly studio production of the entertainment news show I host. Entertainment 16 to be exact. Check some previous blog posts from the fall. I've said lots about it. Tonight was the first episode of our spring season and it was bittersweet because it is my last season ever. A little too much to handle. But our mid week production is always such a blast. The cast and crew are so hilarious together and what goes on in Studio A every Wednesday is so epic. We never stop laughing. And for this final semester I have the absolute pleasure of hosting the show along side one of the most adorable and bubbly red heads around. Plus we have another little firecracker on set who didn't make today's photo because she was taking it. But all together we are one saucy red love triangle. We snapped this pic real quick between breaks as we were going over our lines. I love every hot second. Red heads for life.

Creative Love

February 15th, 2011
Photo #122
Alright so we mine as well just keep the love train chugging along this weekend. I mean why not? I love love. Even if it during this time of February. Today's picture I received by means of email from my dearest friend who is venturing in Costa Rica discovering yoga and life. I am a jealous friend let me tell you. But this photo was actually a nice little motivator for me today and for the rest of the week. I've got a lot going on in the reading and writing department of school work and it can sometimes be a little stressful and just annoying. But I need to remember that it is only going to better my spirit soul and intellect. And I really do love to read and especially write. My assignments may not be what I would have picked out for myself but they are still stimulating for the creative process as a whole. And as an unknown author once said "Love is the ultimate creative process."

Apple To My Eye

February 14th, 2011
Photo #121
Ok ok there is no way around it... Happy Valentines Day followers! Personally this is a little bit of a hard holiday for me to swallow. I'm not a fan of this whole cultural idea that we need a reason and a specific day to tell the ones we love that we love them. I'd much rather prefer a beautiful card and flowers on a random week day in March just because I was on the mind of someone who cares about me. But that is just me, sorry to go all sociological on you. Today has by no means been a terrible day and I send all my love to every special person in my life, all of which are reading this. But our house did give into today's American celebrations by buying some tasty treats and vegging out while watching The Bachelor. Chocolate is my favorite thing even when it's not Valentines Day so I was extremely excited to dive into this delectable chocolate covered apple. Oh my goodness was it incredible. Sweet and delicious. That's enough for me any day.

Red Red Rose

February 13th, 2011
Photo #120
I'm a bit of a downer this evening. The wonderful weekend has come to an end. JH flew on back to Lawrence. Boo. But I can't really complain because the past four days were nothing short of absolutely wonderful. Yet another thing in my life that I'm so thankful for and blessed to have. Yesterdays post was about how JH and I ventured to a glass museum and today's photo is the glass red rose he sneakily purchased and gave to me as a souvenir. Not only is it a unique and beautiful piece, but it's a keepsake that will last. And what better place for it then in the empty wine bottle we enjoyed together.

One Glassy Afternoon

February 12, 2011
Photo #119
JH and I were incredible productive this afternoon and it was wonderful. The surrounding areas outside Ithaca have some pretty unique and entertaining stuff to offer. Because I'm usually so busy with school and work I never really get to experience and enjoy them. But today was the perfect occasion to do some exploring and adventuring. So we found ourselves at the Corning Museum of Glass. After a relatively short drive we arrived at the sprawling establishment. We moseyed around the exhibits learning all about different types of glass, ways to make it, and the chemistry that causes the whole glass making process. We even got to see a hot glass blowing demonstration which was absolutely awesome. This photo is of a show piece that was on display in the museum. It's whimsical, creative, and so unique. All of the art that was on display throughout the museum was incredibly stunning. Maybe if my career in entertainment production doesn't work out I'll take up glass blowing.

Italino Amore

February 11th, 2011
Photo #118
Cooking is something I absolutely enjoy. And being Italian I have been raised around great food and wonderful cooking my whole life. To me cooking brings people together and when you can do it with others it makes the evening just fabulous. Tonight was a homemade pizza kind of night. Our way too far away roommate who is now an international traveler was all about making pizzas. That and tacos were her all time faves. So in honor and memory of her JH and I put together an amazing pizza with fresh tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and roasted red peppers with basil. Oh my goodness it was to die for. As New Yorkers and Italians we were unstoppable and succeed above our delicious expectations. Perfecto!

Thirsty

February 10th, 2011
Photo #117
The weekend has finally arrived and I am one happy girl. Things started off the usual 504 way by sitting around the table enjoying conversation and one another. What more could I possibly want and need? I have a feeling the weekend is off to a fabulous start and will only continue in that direction.

Vino Vino

February 9th, 2011
Photo #116
Today has been a wonderful little mid week surprise. My favorite Lawrence student JH jumped on a jet plane and surprised me for the weekend. What more reason do I need to enjoy a bottle red wine on a Wednesday evening? My time with this one is few and far between so it's very precious to me. I'm soaking in every moment and just like these glasses of Chiante we are taking in every last drop.

Insanely Cheap

February 8th, 2011
Photo #115
The clear and obvious abbreviation for Ithaca College is IC. But for those who do not attend this institution of fine and higher education don't know that it also stands for Insanely Cheap. Referring to where the hell does the $48,000 I pay each year go if I have to purchase a cup of hot water in the pub? Yes, that' right. This afternoon after enjoying a fabulous lunch with my dashing group of friends, I wanted to get myself some hot tea to take to my next class. I always carry around my own tea bags of different flavors in my handy dandy back pack, and most always I have my very own tea mug to go along with them. But today I left that mug in my car because I was running late to class, had a hard time finding parking, and my mind was all out of sorts with other thoughts. So I went up to the cafe and asked for a cup of hot water to accomodate my brought from home Cinnamon Spice tea bag. One of the greatest flavors ever, ps. And to my surprise I was charged .16 cents for a damn cup of water! I'm assuming, as you can see from today's picture, that it was because Ithaca College "Proudly brews Starbucks coffee". I just paid for the damn name on my cup. How annoying. Today's post was a bit of a rant, but in the grand scheme of things its just a little hiccup, nothing too serious. Plus, I just got some really exciting news of a surprise vistor arriving in Ithaca tomorrow so my mood has been turned around! Oh, and yes I took this photo during class.

How College

February 7th, 2011
Photo #114
There are some things that you stumble across that could only happen during the four years you spend getting an undergraduate education. Take today's photo for example. So our landlord absolutely sucks at keeping our driveway in a functional shape with all this snow and ice. The entire thing is a literal ice rink back there. And between our house and the boys next store, we all share the driveway with a total of about eight cars. It's slippery and crowded. Not a good combo. But where the hell else would you possibly find a PBR can crushed and frozen underneath ice? College, that's where. I just couldn't pass this photo opportunity up. And when the ice melts, if it ever does, those boys next store have some trash pick up to take care of.

Super Bowl Girls Day

February 6th, 2011
Photo #113
Today is the quintessential America tradition and celebration. Super Bowl Sunday. It's a day dedicated to lots of food, beer, and the two best teams in the NFL. More typically known to be a male centered day, we kept it fabulously female by having all the girls over to our place for some home made delicious snacks and the game. Its been awesome to just kick back with the girls and enjoy. Now we are all insanely full and slowly fading around the third quarter. The half time show was an epic fail vocally but this day has been a total success.

Snowflake Chaos

February 5th, 2011
Photo #112
This weather actually came out of nowhere tonight. All afternoon it was rainy and slushy. One of those days to stay in bed and snuggle. Or hang with your girlfriends watching Sex And The City and making dinner. Which is exactly what I did for the majority of the late afternoon and evening. When we finally left to head back to our house we were met face to face with this insane and random snowfall. The temperature dropped and the rain turned into huge thick snowflakes. Ithaca is built on a hill and no matter which way you go, driving up hill will be en route. Needless to say getting home was nearly impossible. We were sliding and slipping along with everyone else trying to get up the hill. We finally just found a place to park on a side street parked the car and walked home. Now from the comfort of our living room we have been watching the chaos that is our road with people slipping sliding and getting stuck. The snow has been coming and going in heavy waves but the plow trucks finally made it out to clean up the hill. This weather calls for a cozy Saturday night in.

Wall Of Wisdom

February 3rd, 2011
Photo #110
So my dearest and lovely followers know about one part of today's photo but I figured I would extend the field of view of little bit because I received an amazing new addition of inspiration via old school classic postage today. Just the way I like it. My sister from another mister T, as she is appropriately named, the one I explored the many culturally amenities of NYC with back on winter break, does the most amazing things for me. Every few days I get some sort of uplifting insight from her. Whether it's a quote, photo, or card it is always unique and dear to my heart. And thanks to T I now have a full on wall of inspiration and wisdom. It's perfectly located right at my desk so whenever I'm sitting here I can look up to a little reminder/reality check of what's important and what should be my focus to keep going. Not to mention it adds even more pizzazz to the decor of my upstairs suite. Also, T is about to embark on an incredible journey to fuel her mind body and soul so I need to send her nothing but the best wishes and positive thoughts. As well as tons and tons of love. She's got all the inspiration inside of herself she needs to conquer her adventure and take away nothing but the best of it. I hope this little short post provides the step to look inside and see what you've had all along. Love you boodle.

Epic Snowball Fight

February 2nd, 2011
Photo #109
Well, remember that big horrendous snow storm that was in the forecast for last night and today? Yea that never really happened. I mean it did snow but not what everyone was anticipating. Getting to campus today was ten times easier than yesterday. It was like pandemonium yesterday though. Everyone was preparing for the worst. Schools were closing, events were cancelled, and people were stocking up on food to be prepared to be stuck in their houses all day. All of which was totally unnecessary. Another thing that was planned too soon from excitement was an all campus epic snowball fight. A facebook event went out last night inviting literally every IC student to the quad to partake in a huge, like no other, snowball fight. Without the feet of snow that was expected I think it's pretty obvious that everyone on campus was not going to partake in this escapade. Although I do have to say there were some lone rangers out there enjoying some playtime in the wintery mix that was happening this afternoon. I snapped this quick photo as I walked into the gym. I have to give them some credit. It may not have been huge and epic but they still finished what they started. And from what I could see they were really enjoying themselves. A for effort fellow ICers! Good news though, our little friend Mr. Groundhog came out of his little home on his his own very special day today and gave us the news that spring will arrive early! Let's hope that little creature is right because I need me some spring time.

Evening Entertainment

February 1st, 2011
Photo #108
Oh hey February! You came right up out of nowhere. This short little month isn't really my favorite of the year. It's gray and cold. That doesn't sound very great does it. Ithaca is no different. And it started off just as predicted. We got a bunch of snow that made the morning commute just really suck. Tonight has even more coming. There are a bunch of winter advisory warnings and believe it or not IC just announced a delayed opening for tomorrow. Classes and offices don't start/open until noon. This never happens so maybe we are in store for a lot of bad weather. Oy vey. I told you, February, no so much. So tonight, after getting a good amount of work done, I relaxed in bed and caught up on the tv I missed last night. Guilty pleasure alert! The Bachelor is a favorite of mine. I had to catch up on this weeks drama, come on now. Don't get me wrong I know this reality show is so staged over produced and down right fake but I really can't get enough. This evening The Bachelor and his lady of choosing wined and dined in Vegas then ended the night with a rooftop display of fireworks. I figured since I was in bed watching manufactured love all by lonesome, I would capture someone else's moment. Look at that view. The whole City Of Lights with explosive fireworks. Oh how the sparks are flying.
