Serious Skills

November 30th, 2010
Photo #45
Well today has been one of THE most unproductive days in my college career. See I have this little problem where I never really let myself lay down and relax when I'm in school mode. I feel way too bad. My mind runs around and around thinking of all the things I should be doing and all the things I have to do. Plus it's just being lazy and giving into procrastination which gives me serious anxiety. We can say it all together...OCD. I'm well aware of my habits and slight issues. We all have them. But anyways getting back to my unproductive Tuesday. I was feeling incredibly sick this morning and couldn't even get my booty out of bed for work. Luckily I have one the greatest bosses in the world and she was more than willing for me to keep my germs in my own house. Which in turn, I didn't roll out of bed til noon! Waaaahh. Never before have I slept this late during the week. Guilt set in right away. Yet I managed to push it aside and as soon as I returned home from class I was right back in my bed watching my all time favorite, The Food Network. I managed to emerge from this cave to make dinner with my roommates. We also had a lovely family outing to the movies later on where I cried my eyes out in public. I'm such a sucker for love and romance which this movie lacked none of. Just made me long for things even more and didn't help my lazy unproductiveness I've been dealing with. Agh! Talk about going off topic on a tangent. The whole point of this post is to note this photo which showcases my housemates and mine amazing dish stacking skills. We were provided with some silly excuse for a dishwasher but it doesn't work so we are forced to handwash and let them dry. It has become quite the art to stack as many as we can and see how exciting we can make our kitchen counter look. I guess today's theme of procrastination and being unproductive has carried it's way over into our kitchen.

House Of Parkies

November 29th, 2010
Photo #44
Now that the sun sets at an ungodly early hour, when I leave campus after work it's already dark out. Total downside of this time of year. But while I was making the dimly lit trek back to my car, I passed under the place I have been living for the past four years. Not my actual residency, but my school on campus where basically all my classes, and all the studios, are held. The Park School Of Communications has been a lovely house throughout my college career. Recently it has undergone a lot of cosmetic changes complete with flat scree TVs in the hallways and new production equipment. Glad to see my gigantic tuition is going to good use. All joke aside though, I had a little moment walking under the stone banner and through the glass double doors this evening. This one building has completely shaped me into part of the person I am today. I've learned so much and gained so much insight behind those walls. Wherever I end up and whatever I do after the upcoming spring will be fueled by everything that I took from here. It's pretty remarkable to be a member of Park.

I Couldn't Resist

November 28th, 2010
Photo #43
Alright so technically I didn't take this photo today. But it was a little hectic coming back to school and settling in for before the last two weeks of the semester commence. We all know my absolute adoration of my beautiful dog and when I captured this picture on Thanksgiving of Miss Jade, I couldn't resist sharing it. Plus I'm currently laying in bed about to pass out and realized I didn't blog today. It's been a long and wild holiday break but I didn't want to let this slip through the cracks. So for your viewing pleasure, and on a count of my slight laziness, here is today's photo of my precious pooch. And make sure you note her too fabulous turkey themed bandana.

Magnet Message

November 27th, 2010
Photo #42
The random little things that you discover without thought are some of the best things in life. Like this little message on my friends fridge formed together by those quintessential magnetic words. If it's a little hard to decipher it reads: "the situation is a dumb ass !" This of course is referring to the always ridiculous and quite frankly stupid guy who inhabits the Jersey Shore on our generation's classiest network, MTV. I couldn't agree more with this refrigerated quotation. And I'm not going to rant in detail as to why, because I'm pretty sure we all get it and support the statement. Oh how the littlest things make the biggest statements.

A Musical Reunion

November 26th, 2010
Photo #41
I never realized how this holiday break brings everyone home for the first time in months. I have literally seen everyone I have ever grown up or went to school with over the last few days. It has been overwhelming, yet wonderful. Just small hellos and short catch ups have been truly great. It's hard to keep in touch with everyone but there is no question that we can all come home at some point and even for a few minutes just to say hello. I've talked about before how I have some very talented friends in my life and being home this week was a chance for me to get to see them in their element. These lovely gentleman are two of my dear friends from high school who have been jamming on their strings for years and recently came together to open a music store. This evening they put on a little session and concert in which everyone that we've been friends with attended to support them. The perfect post holiday night could not have been better. Old friends, good beer and wine, and even better original music. Home is where the heart is.

What I Am Thankful For

November 25th, 2010
Photo #40
Happy Thanksgiving!! This is such a lovely time of year when all the holidays begin and families, along with friends, come together to celebrate. There is nothing quite like it and it really makes you understand and appreciate what you have in your life. Our endless feast today took place at our house where we had about 16 people and way too much food. But hey, it wouldn't be Thanksgiving otherwise. In the midst of everyone sitting down to their first bites of an early dinner I snagged a quick photo to capture it all. I'm so thankful for the people at this table. Family, friends, and even some new faces I had just met this evening. The fact that we are all together enjoying and embracing the same things is a blissful moment. I hope everyone reading this has the same experience and that the holidays, no matter how you celebrate them, are filled with people and things that you learn to be thankful for.

What...The Heck?!

November 24th, 2010
Photo #39
I SENT THIS LAST NIGHT!! I don't know why this never got posted as my photo for yesterday but I sent it from my iPhone, like I do all my other posts, and it NEVER posted. What the heck?! This failure of technology is not my fault.

The little rumor mill that's been churning tells me that the night before Thanksgiving is apparently a real quality evening to go out and enjoy. So here we are participating in the events for tonight. Because we only see each other during holidays and scheduled breaks from school we need to catch up on life and enjoy ourselves at the same time. This may or may not be a bad ad campaign for a particular drink that is in the process of being banded but I swear we are safe and responsible. Just enjoying the holiday break and catching up on old times. Love life baby

Snuggle Monsters

November 23rd, 2010
Photo #38
I'm officially home for break and it's of course off to a great start. I've talked about it before how my friends and I from home are so fortunate to have grown up together and maintained an incredible bond. This photo is a clear depiction to show that love. Snuggling is one of our most favorite things to do. And before going out it's even better. Being here for the next week is going to be perfect. Lots of family, food, and friends. My all time favorite things that start with the letter F.

Parking Lot Sandwich

November 22nd, 2010
Photo #37
After a full day of flying and traveling home I have never been so hungry in my life. My amazing neighbor who has been my oldest and best friend for years came to pick me up from the airport. We always get ourselves into the craziest adventures and laugh like crazy. So tonight was no exception. We found ourselves at the only open place in town, a super market, and ransacked the place for all the fixings to make a turkey sandwich. Which we then proceeded to assemble and make it on the trunk of the car in the parking lot. Think what you want, but it was the best damn sandwich I've had in quite some time. I then literally devoured it before we made it back home. Oh man it was delicious. As always, it feels amazing to be home. But I do miss the south.

The Aftermath

November 21st, 2010
Photo #36
Sunday fun-day was not the first thing we thought of this morning. After a fabulously ridiculous weekend filled with lots of late nights it all settled in. Needless to say, we are shot. Example A, this photo. My little nugget LJ was the roughest of the group today but we weren't letting her get out of celebrating her upcoming birthday before we all left town. Mind you, this was about 11 a.m. Talk about breakfast of champions. Red velvet cake and water. Yuumm. Plus those hot shades really make this look complete. Successful weekend in my book.

Airrington Afternoons

November 20th, 2010
Photo #35
We successfully survived the first night of our reunion weekend. Boy did we kick things off right. I haven't laughed so hard in my life like I did last night. And another surprise, we are up and at 'em today conquering this beautiful Saturday afternoon. The weather is so amazing. Blue skies, sunshine, and 70 degrees. What better a day then to hit the Tennessee countryside and do some wine tasting in the vineyards. It's relaxing and enjoyable and the views here are to die for. I've been documenting this weekend via photography nonstop and I just couldn't resist getting my family together on a tree swing for a little portrait. This one is frame worthy. Nothing better than southern wine and my best friends.

The time has finally arrived. The fantastic and once blondtourage is reunited as a whole. It has never felt better. I haven't felt this happy and at ease in quite some time. I have the greatest ladies with me tonight and my southern accent is slowly coming back.
Life is good and it's never felt better. Here we come Nashville.

So It Begins!

November 18th, 2010
Photo #33
God it feels so good to be back in Nashville. The people. The city. The music. My friends. It's all just perfect. I arrived from NY around 12pm central time and immediately reunited with two of the four. We headed straight to lunch then shopped at the mall for a relaxing afternoon. We caught up, laughed a lot and just did our thing. And now the night begins. We are starting the party a little early before the rest arrive in town tomorrow. Cabana is a trendy little spot with great atmosphere food and drinks. So here we are. Cozy little booth off to the side with drinks and food waiting. Now can you see why I missed this place? It gets better every time. But hey, I'm being a little antisocial at the table and there are drinks and conversations waiting on me. More perfection to come in the next few days.

Less Than 24 Hours

November 17th, 2010
Photo #32
I can't contain my excitement any longer!!! Tomorrow morning I'm boarding a plane and flying down as fast as possible to Nashville for a weekend get away. For those who follow, I thank you so so much for doing so, you would have read a few posts earlier that I'm going to be reuniting with my entire southern family this weekend. My core fam consists of four truly amazing ladies. And this weekend will be the first time since August of 2009 that all five of us will be together in the same city for the same weekend. We've had this planned for over a month and the fact that it's beginning tomorrow is seriously blowing my mind. You may wonder what todays photo has to do with all this, huh? Well because we were such hard working and on point interns, we have a tendency to make itineraries for everything we do. Now this is just a small section of the one I received via email. It out lines day by day what we will be doing. And in true fashion it includes all ridiculous and shameful activities that may or may not happen. I promise you we are a classy and respectful group of young women. Just when it comes to having fun and taking on Music City one night at a time, we are true and fabulous experts. So Nashville and surrounding citizens, you have been notified. And prepare because in 24 hours the Socialites are back in action and better than ever. The fun is just beginning.

Some Things Never Change

November 16th, 2010
Photo #31
If I could only live off one type of food for the rest of my life it would hands down be Japanese cuisine. Preferably sushi. No scratch that, only sushi. It's literally the best thing ever. Fresh, healthy, creative, and versatile. Unfortunately I'll need to start making way more sufficient funds in order to support my little raw and rice habit. None the less, I still indulge in sushi as often as I can. Hence why I like to live by "I won't have it went I'm dead, so spend it now." This works well with my shopping habit as well. But I have been lucky enough to have a champion sushi partner by my side who shares the same thoughts. Dining with someone and sharing great food and great conversation can never get old. For the past three years I've had the pleasure of enjoying sushi with this wonderful person all over the country. For a while it was a personal mission of ours to eat sushi in every city, state, or town we visited. And lucky for us we conquered a serious amount of sushi all over the U.S. Tonight was no exception. We ended up at one of our fave spots in College Town and went all out with literally a boat load of deliciousness. Sushi is like our common ground. No matter how much things change and where we go or end up, we can meet up anywhere for some sushi and enjoy that time together. Traditions are something that keep you grounded and allow you to appreciate those in life who you share them with. I'm lucky to have those traditions, and those people.

Celebration Time

November 15th, 2010
Photo #30
The day has finally arrived....our little baby has turned 21!! As the last to do so in our house it was reason to celebrate. The decorations throughout the house were a total hit. It was then followed by our go to roommate dinner spot for some oh so delicious Thai cuisine. And this time we could all indulge in a bottle of wine together. Even though the server thought one of us was using a fake ID to pass as a 34 year old?? So awkward. Yet it brought some comedic entertainment to the lovely meal. Overall, birthday celebration was a great success for a Monday evening. Especially the fact that those really sweet glasses were worn in public. Birthdays are my favorite holidays and I love making them special for the people I love. The next one we have to look forward to is 30. Gag. Let's just stay positive and celebrate every birthday between now and then without hesitation. Any reason to celebrate with great friends great food and great wine is fine by me. So cheers to my absolutely wonderful roommate on her special day. Welcome to the club! You have never looked better. Love you!

Dollar Deals

November 14th, 2010
Photo #29
Wooww. This has been one of the longest weekends of senior year. Whew. But it was oh so worth it. Lots of celebrating. Lots of great friends. And lots of champagne. Which my body is not letting me forget about. Hydrating is now an understatement. Today was a bit of blur, as was the last 48 hours. I had to say good bye to my best friend who so wonderfully came into town for the weekend. And I had to write an eight page paper that I'm pretty sure isn't very consistent. Hakuna matata. What's even more exciting is that one of my lovely roommates is about to FINALLY turn 21 at midnight. This is extremely exciting for our house, as it is any 21st birthday, but its more special because it is our roomie. So in honor of the big day my penthouse partner and I took a little trip to the always enjoyable dollar store to get some decorations. What we would thought would only be some balloons and streamers, turned into a plethora of birthday themed items. Number candles, almost stupid cards, confetti, and these super sweet birthday hats. We had entirely too much fun in there and only spent like $8. Talk about a cheap and easy good time. Not to mention, our house is going to look darling with all these fun goodies we picked up. The celebrating just doesn't end. But I don't hate it! The offical birthday girl photo will definitely be in tomorrow's post. Here's just a sneak peak of all the fun stuff we have set up for her. Hey, you only turn 21 once.

It's 8:35 am. Mimosa have been flowing for the past hour. Jello shots have been finished. And my best friend from home is here. One word...Cortaca. I had to blog before things got too wild and I wasn't able to find my iPhone. Sorry Momma and prospective employers. But this is our last year so you know what? Go big or go home. These girls are my crew and they are the best. Let go Bombers!

Beach Biddies

November 12th, 2010
Photo #27
As I was sitting in class pretty bored, sorry IC, I got an email from a member of my southern family. It was such a bright addition to my day that I just couldn't help but not share it.
Right before I started this blog I spent four days down south with part of the fam at their beach house. It was absolutely the best fall get away I could have asked for. The warm weather. The beach. The fresh seafood. The wine. And of course reuniting with my loves that I only get to see about twice a year. But the beauty of our family is that it doesn't matter. In the perfect dysfunctional way that our lives have worked out, it doesn't matter how much time we spend apart. The few and far between reunions we do have are like nothing has ever changed. We pick up right where we left off and go out with a bang. Moving down south, living and working with this amazing group of people was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I came away with a better sense of myself and what I want to do with my career, and I came away with even better friends. A family.
So this photo was attached in the email I received so I had to post it. It's even more fitting because next week, our entire family is reuniting back down south in Music City. That's where it all started and it will be the first time since then that the entire family is together and in the same place. That is going to make for some epic photos. I'm counting down the days.
Happy Friday y'all!

Prospective Creepiness

November 11th, 2010
Photo #26
Ok so I'm back on the blogging train. Yesterday was a lame excuse for a daily blog. But have no fear kids because are back in action.
Another fun tid bit is that I can be a serious creeper. Haven't decided if this is a high or a low but I roll with it. So as I was walking through campus today I couldn't resist snapping a pic. It's yet another gorges day here at IC and the prospective students are out and about trying to decide if this is the place for them. For us veteran students, oh ps happy Veterans Day, it can be pretty annoying when campus is flooded with high schoolers and parents. Parking is more of a nightmare than it already is. Lost wanders asking for directions gets old really fast. And it can seem like you are being watched all the time. Naturally I grabbed a quick photo of one of the many tour groups today. Not to mention the tour leader is one of my favorite people and she is just hilarious. Cheers to not knowing your photo was taken! This is almost as cool as Gossip Girl.
You know you love me.

Little Bit of a Failure

November 10th, 2010
Photo #25
Oy vey. I kind of suck at life because...I forgot to blog a photo yesterday! Gasp. Damn it. Shoot. Ugh. I swear I had the photo and everything. I just got too tied up with some good friends last night and it really slipped my mind. But I had the photo taken and everything. I just never got it up here. Enough with the excuses, here is the photo for yesterday.
It was another day of post production and I was editing with my director during class. Things are moving along very nicely. The deadline is coming up and our masterpiece is pretty fantastic. We've had it pretty easy the last few weeks because we got shooting done super early. Which is great because we have a nice relaxing post edit. Lots of time to go over all the details that really count and make it flawless. Keep your eyes open in the film festival circuit next fall because our film will making it's rounds snagging up some shiny awards.
Ahh. Winner for the lamest blog post, right here. But Hakuna matata there are lots more to come.

Kicking It Old School

November 9th, 2010
Photo #24
Being comfortable is a big necessity in my everyday attire. While I like to consider myself a fashionista in keeping up with the trends and styles, I'm still all about being able to cozy in all the things that I wear. But I do also like to stand out a bit and take risks when it comes to my fashion choices. I believe in good old classic staples to have and reuse within your wardrobe. Case and point, Converse high top sneakers. They are so classic its not even funny, yet you can wear them really with anything. And comfort? It's an always guarantee when you rock the cons. So with the weather here still be a bit bipolar and stuck in limbo between fall and winter, I jumped at the opportunity to bust out my high tops just one more time. I'm still trying to brake this babies in from the summer when I purchased them. It gave today a nice funky fresh step and I'm still enjoying that as I sit here at home at my computer still wearing them. My darling sister who is hopefully reading this should enjoy my stylish fashion post, considering she heads her own fashion blog (shameless plug so check it out!).
In my opinion, old school can never really go out of style.

Fashion Essential

November 8th, 2010
Photo #23
Check out this photo of a photo. It's just too cool for words. And the best part, this photo is screen printed on a tshirt. On the tshirt I am wearing none the less. This little bright faced smiling boy is my freshman side kick co-host on the TV I've mentioned before. For one of our episodes we got really clever and wore tshirts with each others photo on them. Really original I know. But come on, who can resist? Now not only do I have a sweet tshirt but I also get to rep my brother from another mother. Epic and one of a kind.

Flame Worthy

November 7th, 2010
Photo #22
I have a little habit lately. I like to leave my candle burning in my room for extended periods of time. This could actually be a bit of a problem. I don't know what it is. I just forget. Like right now, as I send this blog post from my living room chair I'm pretty sure my candle is burning in my room. Whoops. But they just make my room smell so delicious. My current scent and flavor is pumpkin spice. Perfect for this time of year. It creates atmosphere and give some nice warmth to be cozy. So I've provided a photo of my little candle burning shelf. To the right is a mason jar filled with sea treasures I gathered while visiting the beach. To the left is one of my favorite photos from the camp I had the pleasure of being a counselor at this summer. I enjoy the little details that make a room a happy and cozy place to live.
I hope everyone else is enjoying a yummy candle burning and a cozy place to snuggle on this lazy Sunday.

Viva Vino!

November 6th, 2010
Photo #21
The question is why wouldn't you spend a Saturday wine tasting through the vineyards of upstate with your crew? It's called senioritis. Why do all the school work you have when there are gorges vineyards waiting on your arrival? Today was splendid. Wine, friends, cold winter air. Could not have asked for a better afternoon. Got to spend the day with the girls and the boys even joined in their dapper attire. There is another photo that goes along with this one of just the girls who were all there. But technically this is a one photo a day blog so I'll keep it with just this one. None the less its absolute perfection. Just another reason why I don't ever want to grow up.

Wine And Dine

November 5th, 2010
Photo #20
Ah yes. Another food photo. As we know. It's a passion of mine. And cooking is no different. This lovely Friday I had the absolute pleasure of cooking for and spending the evening with a great friend of mine from home whose goes to Cornell. Which is across the hill. This evening I made and we enjoyed salmon over pasta with sundried tomato and sweet pea sauce. Complimented wonderfully with a local white wine. This weekend is off to a grand start.

Making Sweet Music

November 4th, 2010
Photo #19
We are at the point in the semester where everything starts to build up. There are about four weeks left and it all comes at once. To sum it up, it's crunch time. For my capstone, aka the class that my entire major and program builds up to and relies on, the task was to take the entire semester to create, produce, package, and premiere an original film. Basically we have free range to do whatever our little talented hearts desire. TV series. Fiction. Narrative. Documentary. Artistic exploration. Anything. I am lucky enough to be assistant directing and co-producing an incredible project with a team of professional guys. Yes, I'm the only girl on the crew. That's a whole other project centered around sociology courses on gender studies. But none the less, our film is phenomenal. I adore all the boys I'm working with and appreciate their talent and consider it a privilege to have my name on this baby. We spent the first month of the semester shooting for 12 hours a day every weekend. An active social life disappears when your thesis is being produced. It was more than worth it though, because now as everything is getting almost unbearable we are in edit and taking it easy. We have plenty of time to finalize every little detail. Right now we are in one of my favorite aspects of post-production. Music composition. And to make my producing experience that much better, we are working with the most talented composer I have ever met. The best part, he is one of my dearest friends. I've been able to make music with him a few times before, and I frequently jam out to his club bangers on my iPod when I got running. Oh, and he's the hottest DJ on the ones and twos downtown every weekend.
Talented is an understatement when talking about RG. His passion and creativity radiates off of him. The beats he creates are so effortless while at the same time taking your breath away. Our film is being skyrocketed to the next level because of his soundtrack he is putting together. So today, I went down to the studio and sat with him to just observe his creative process, offer him some comedic relief, give my producer opinion here and there, and give him someone other than his keyboard to talk to. It was such a joy to be there with him. Nothing like relaxing with a friend and collaborating on artistic opinions. So I snapped a photo of him while he was in the middle of his flow.He caught on a turned right as it snapped.
RG is a doll. I adore and admire him like no other. Talk about a dream team, we are going to be making and producing music together in the near and distance future and going to do a hell of job at it for that matter.

Tea Time

November 3rd, 2010
Photo #18
I'm an avid tea drinker. Three cups a day is part of my usual routine. Chai. Green tea blueberry. Vanilla creme. Mmmm. All my faves. But I also keep it simple with a classic black tea. And the brand I indulge in has little random and sometimes pointless quotes on the tea bag. Kinda of like this post. Didn't have much to blog about today if you couldn't tell. And today I was a little all over the place so when I looked down and noticed my little tea bag it was very similar to the simple pointlessness of my day.
"Water bed: where fish sleep. "
Fun fact for your hump day.

Comfy Cozy

November 2nd, 2010
Photo #17
Today has been one of those days. Tuesday to say the least. I've discussed my thought of a Tuesday. NAF. And today just supported my previous analogy of the second day of the work week. My unnecessary weekday began at 6:00 am. This is extremely difficult to do because now it's still pitch black out until about 7:45 am. Not to mention when I went outside to get in my car to go to yoga there was ice on my windshield. Not prepared for this. Ok, to make a long story short I was late for almost everything today. I ran around like crazy. Could not focus for the life of me. And totally crashed as soon as I got home. So now here I am, watching my third consecutive hour of mindless television not doing a damn thing. Well except for being cozy in my fuzzy bedazzled slippers, sipping on some tea, blogging away, and just maybe thinking about the work I should probably be getting a head start on. But ahhhh where I'm at right now is entirely too lovely. And you know what, I'm content. Plus my favorite musical show comes on in circa 19 minutes.
Cheers to anyone doing and enjoying the same.

A Brisk Start

November 1st, 2010
Photo #16
As they say, there's a first for everything. So in honor of today...Happy November 1st! Where the time is going I haven't quite figured out. And of course, once this lovely month rolls around it immediately gets brick cold! Today was no exception. We stayed at around 38 degrees and the sun never showed up. Some snowflakes even made a little appearance. As for another first, get ready because this is the first self proclaimed "myspace" photo. Ya ya, I get it...lame. But y'all can deal. It happens. I'm not the first person to do it and don't be surprised if this isn't the only one of its kind on this fabulous little blog. In today's early brisk November evening I had to go and get my senior portrait taken. Complete with the cap and gown none the less. Totally life freakout moment. Talking about time moving fast, my first semester of my last year of college is halfway over. So here's my own little portrait. It's cold. Winter is slamming down Fall's door. And time isn't about to slow down. Crazy. Good thing that scarf is big enough to keep me warm because I just want to be able to enjoy the ride.
